Reasons to Use Axe Throwing for Team Building

Updated: Apr 8, 2020

Axe throwing is a fun-filled activity that can bring people together through teamwork and competition. Consider it for your next team-building event.

After a long day at the office, no employee wants to go to a required team-building exercise in the break room. Your business may be multicultural, multigenerational, and have people with a wide range of personalities and interests. As such, finding an activity that an entire team or office will enjoy can seem like an impossible task. But, believe it or not, axe throwing is the perfect activity for all ages, interests, and fosters an environment for team bonding Still skeptical? Check out these main reasons to use axe throwing for team building.

It’s a fun way to get to know coworkers outside of the office

If you’ve ever wanted to get to someone better, just put an axe in their hands and tell them to throw it. True personalities shine through exteriors once people can let go and have some fun. Team building doesn’t have to be a drag—it can be a fun-filled time where coworkers can bond free of the pressures of the workplace.

It’s available year-round

Winter can get chilly and outdoor team building during the colder months is bound to ruffle some feathers. Axe throwing is an exciting activity that gets people up and moving but from the comfort of a toasty indoor facility. Your employees will be much more enthusiastic about attending an indoor event than an outdoor one during the cold season. Rain, snow, or shine, Kick Axe Throwing is ready to foster some team spirit.

It helps to relieve the stress of work

No matter the industry, there are plenty of stressors at work. Employees may feel stressed about deadlines, client issues, intrapersonal relationships, and more. Working day-to-day, it can be easy to forget the positives that go along with their careers. There is truly no better way to let go of stress than flinging an axe, as hard as you can, at a board met by the roaring cheers of your coworkers as it lands on the target.

You build teams and work together

When you take your company or employees axe throwing for your corporate event we make sure you’re not just chucking axes at targets for no reason. We prepare and lead teams in different games. This means your employees are building a team mentality and working together—they’re team-building. For extra fun, try splitting up into teams of employees vs. bosses. There’s nothing quite as satisfying than working together with your coworkers to take down management in a friendly yet competitive game of axe throwing.

Book axe throwing in Washington D.C., Brooklyn, or Philadelphia for your next team-building exercise—we guarantee a kick axe time.

What stayed with me here was how the article framed axe throwing as more than just blowing off steam, especially the part about staff being split into guided team games rather than simply throwing at targets on their own. The contrast between a stiff break-room activity and a warm indoor space where people can relax, compete, and even take on the bosses was a fun detail that made the idea feel much more believable. It gave me a Scritchy Scratchy kind of association, where one slightly unusual activity suddenly sounds like the thing people would actually remember.
